Patient Navigator Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a patient navigator in Tennessee?
Most patient navigator positions in Tennessee require a bachelor's degree in social work, nursing, public health, or a related field. Roles with a clinical focus often prefer candidates who hold a Tennessee social work license issued through the Tennessee Board of Social Worker Licensure and Practice. Completing a patient navigation certificate program, such as those offered through the National Cancer Institute's Harold P. Freeman model, strengthens your candidacy significantly with large Tennessee health systems.
Which companies hire patient navigators in Tennessee?
Tennessee patient navigator roles are posted by Ascension, Healogics, and Hope Family Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Tennessee's major academic medical centers, community health centers, and federally qualified health clinics are consistently among the most active employers in this space.
Which Tennessee cities have the most patient navigator jobs?
Nashville, Martin, and Franklin have the most patient navigator openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because of its concentration of major health systems and corporate healthcare headquarters, while Memphis and Knoxville generate demand through their large academic medical centers and regional hospital networks serving significant rural and underserved populations.
Are there remote patient navigator jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, but they're rare. Patient navigation work is fundamentally relationship- and presence-driven, so most roles require on-site or community-based contact with patients. About 0% of patient navigator openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, and those positions typically focus on telephonic case management, insurance authorization support, or administrative coordination rather than direct patient accompaniment.
How can I get hired as a patient navigator in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a patient services representative or community health worker role at a large Tennessee health system and moving into navigation from there. Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Covenant Health periodically post entry-level care coordinator positions suited to candidates without direct navigation experience. Earning a community health worker certification through the Tennessee Association of Community Health Workers gives candidates a measurable credential that resonates with Tennessee nonprofit clinics and federally qualified health centers.
Where can I find and apply to patient navigator jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to patient navigator jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current Tennessee openings from health systems, community health organizations, and cancer centers across the state. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialty focus, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
