Registration requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a pharmacy technician training program or equivalent work experience. Most Nebraska employers also expect or require national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the National Healthcareer Association, which strengthens your application considerably.
How much do pharmacy technicians make in Nebraska?
Pharmacy technicians in Nebraska earn a median of about $46,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,710 for the lowest 10% to over $57,110 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire pharmacy technicians in Nebraska?
Companies currently hiring pharmacy technicians in Nebraska include Walgreens, CVS Health, and Optum, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Nebraska's large integrated health systems and retail pharmacy presence across urban and rural communities mean technician openings appear regularly at hospital pharmacies, independent compounding pharmacies, and national chain locations throughout the state.
Which Nebraska cities have the most pharmacy technician jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Hastings have the most pharmacy technician openings in Nebraska. Omaha drives the largest share of listings due to its concentration of major health systems and hospital campuses, while Lincoln's university medical infrastructure and retail corridors support steady demand, and regional centers like Kearney serve as anchors for pharmacy employment across Nebraska's central corridor.
Are there remote pharmacy technician jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of pharmacy technician openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on most pharmacy technician work is by nature. The segment most likely to offer remote options is specialty or mail-order pharmacy, where technicians handle prior authorizations, prescription processing, and insurance coordination without needing to be on-site.
How can I get hired as a pharmacy technician in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to complete a state-approved pharmacy technician training program at a Nebraska community college such as Southeast Community College or Metropolitan Community College, then apply directly to retail or hospital pharmacy positions that advertise trainee or new technician roles. CHI Health and Nebraska Medicine both bring on technicians with limited experience through structured onboarding. Obtaining your Nebraska DHHS registration and pursuing PTCB certification, even before your first job, gives you a clear edge over candidates who wait.
Where can I find and apply to pharmacy technician jobs in Nebraska?
You can find and apply to pharmacy technician jobs in Nebraska on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings, identify roles that match your credentials and preferred setting, and apply directly to each one that fits.
