To practice as a medical doctor in Nebraska, you must obtain a license through the Nebraska Medical Licensure Division under the Division of Public Health. Requirements include graduating from an accredited medical school, completing an accredited residency, and passing the United States Medical Licensing Examination. Nebraska also requires applicants to submit verified training records and undergo a background check before a license is issued or endorsed from another state.
Which companies hire medical doctors in Nebraska?

Nebraska's hiring is anchored by large integrated health systems and regional medical centers that recruit across multiple specialties and practice settings.
Which Nebraska cities have the most medical doctor jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Kearney lead Nebraska for medical doctor openings. Omaha dominates as home to Nebraska Medicine, CHI Health, and several specialty practices tied to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, while Lincoln's Bryan Health and regional clinics drive consistent hiring, and Grand Island anchors physician demand for the state's central corridor and surrounding rural communities.
Are there remote medical doctor jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, but they're rare. About 25% of medical doctor openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on clinical care must be delivered in person for most physician roles. The positions most likely to carry a remote or hybrid component are telehealth consultations, utilization review, and certain administrative or medical director roles.
How can I get hired as a medical doctor in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to residency-to-practice pipelines and new-physician recruitment programs at Nebraska's major health systems. Nebraska Medicine and CHI Health both recruit newly residency-trained physicians into attending roles, and Bryan Health in Lincoln has historically hired early-career doctors into hospitalist and primary care positions. Candidates without independent practice experience can also pursue locum tenens assignments through Nebraska hospital networks, which often convert to permanent roles, while ensuring Nebraska Medical Licensure Division credentialing is complete before applying.
