Phlebotomist Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a phlebotomist in New Jersey?
New Jersey does not require a state-issued phlebotomy license, but most employers require a nationally recognized certification before hiring. The most widely accepted credentials are the Certified Phlebotomy Technician from the National Healthcareer Association or the Phlebotomy Technician certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Candidates typically complete an accredited phlebotomy training program, which many New Jersey community colleges and hospital systems offer, before sitting for a certification exam.
How much do phlebotomists make in New Jersey?
Phlebotomists in New Jersey earn a median of about $48,650 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,730 for the lowest 10% to over $58,520 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire phlebotomists in New Jersey?
Employers hiring phlebotomists in New Jersey right now include Quest Diagnostics, Labcorp, and Centers Health Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of hospital networks and national laboratory chains means openings appear regularly across both urban medical centers and suburban outpatient locations throughout the state.
Which New Jersey cities have the most phlebotomist jobs?
The cities with the most phlebotomist openings in New Jersey are Edison, Paramus, and Toms River. Newark anchors demand as the state's largest city and home to University Hospital and multiple major health system campuses, while Trenton and Camden draw volume from regional medical centers and federally qualified health centers serving dense urban populations.
Are there remote phlebotomist jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, but they're rare. Phlebotomy is a hands-on clinical role that requires direct patient contact, so fully remote positions make up a small fraction of openings. About 0% of phlebotomist openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve administrative, training, or telephonic patient coordination functions rather than specimen collection.
How can I get hired as a phlebotomist in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing an accredited phlebotomy training program and earning a nationally recognized certification before applying. Large New Jersey health systems such as RWJBarnabas Health and Hackensack Meridian Health periodically run new-graduate and extern programs designed for candidates with limited clinical hours. Roles such as medical assistant, patient services representative, or laboratory aide at community clinics and outpatient centers also serve as common lateral entry points that allow candidates to build venipuncture experience on the job.
Where can I find and apply to phlebotomist jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to phlebotomist jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to those positions.
