Mid Level Physical Therapist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level physical therapist job?
Position yourself by leading with your clinical caseload volume, the patient populations you have managed independently, and any specialty certifications you have earned. Highlight situations where you made autonomous clinical decisions, contributed to care protocols, or mentored a new graduate. Tailor your resume to show depth in a specific setting or population rather than breadth alone, and demonstrate measurable outcomes like reduced readmission rates or improved functional scores.
Which companies hire mid level physical therapists?
Companies hiring mid level physical therapists right now include HealthPRO Heritage, Riverview, LLP, and Sutter Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of large health systems, outpatient group practices, skilled nursing facilities, and specialized rehabilitation networks that need clinicians who can carry a full caseload without close supervision.
Are there remote mid level physical therapist jobs?
Yes, though remote work is more limited in physical therapy than in many other fields given the hands-on nature of patient care. About 0% of mid level physical therapist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most of those positions focused on telehealth consultations, care coordination, or clinical documentation review rather than direct in-person treatment.
How do I move up to a mid level physical therapist role?
The path from entry level to mid level is built by progressively owning more of the clinical process independently. Focus on developing a specialty niche, such as orthopedics, neuro, or pediatrics, taking on complex patient cases, and demonstrating outcomes you can quantify. Earning a clinical specialty certification and taking informal leadership of orientation for new grads signals to employers that you are ready for greater autonomy and broader responsibility.
Which industries hire the most mid level physical therapists?
Mid Level physical therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Agriculture & Farming, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they serve high patient volumes across diverse diagnoses, requiring clinicians experienced enough to manage complex cases and contribute to quality improvement without requiring step-by-step clinical oversight.
