Physical Therapy Assistant Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a physical therapy assistant in Idaho?
To work as a physical therapy assistant in Idaho, you must hold an active license issued by the Idaho State Board of Medicine. That requires graduating from a CAPTE-accredited associate degree program and passing the National Physical Therapy Examination for PTAs administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. Once licensed, you apply for Idaho state licensure directly through the Board of Medicine before practicing.
Which companies hire physical therapy assistants in Idaho?
Employers hiring physical therapy assistants in Idaho right now include Superior Physical Therapy, AmeriCorps, and Lifepoint Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Idaho's strong concentration of outpatient orthopedic clinics and rehabilitation-focused hospital networks means openings are distributed across both large health systems and independent practice settings throughout the state.
Which Idaho cities have the most physical therapy assistant jobs?
The cities with the most physical therapy assistant openings in Idaho are Idaho, Boise, and Lewiston. Boise anchors demand as the state's largest metro with the highest concentration of hospital systems and outpatient clinics, while Meridian's rapid residential growth has driven expansion of outpatient rehabilitation practices, and Idaho Falls serves as the regional hub for eastern Idaho's healthcare network.
Are there remote physical therapy assistant jobs in Idaho?
Yes, but they're rare. Physical therapy assisting is a hands-on clinical role that requires direct patient contact, so the overwhelming majority of positions are fully on-site. About 0% of physical therapy assistant openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those limited exceptions typically involve administrative coordination, telehealth-adjacent patient education, or supervisory roles rather than direct treatment work.
How can I get hired as a physical therapy assistant in Idaho with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for physical therapy technician or rehabilitation aide roles at Idaho hospital systems like St. Luke's Health System or Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, which regularly hire support staff who are completing or have recently completed their PTA degree. These aide positions expose you to the clinical environment, count toward supervised hours, and put you in front of hiring managers before a licensed role opens. Holding an active Idaho PTA license is the single strongest credential that separates new graduates from other applicants.
