Physician Assistant Jobs in Raleigh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physician assistant job in Raleigh?
Raleigh's strongest hiring concentrations are in health systems anchored near North Hills and downtown, independent urgent care networks spreading into the Brier Creek and Garner corridors, and the research-affiliated practices tied to the Research Triangle Park area. Surgical specialties and primary care are the most active. Candidates who hold a current North Carolina PA license, demonstrate subspecialty experience, and can point to DEA registration move fastest through the local hiring process.
Which companies hire physician assistants in Raleigh?
Employers hiring physician assistants in Raleigh right now include WakeMed Health & Hospitals, WakeMed, and MainStreet Family Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Raleigh's hiring pool includes large academic health systems, multispecialty physician groups, and independently operated urgent care chains, giving candidates options at very different practice scales.
Are there remote physician assistant jobs in Raleigh?
Yes, though only for a narrow slice of the role. Physician assistant work is primarily hands-on and clinical, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 7% of physician assistant openings tied to Raleigh are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in telehealth triage, utilization review, and insurance clinical advisory roles rather than direct patient care.
How can I get a physician assistant job in Raleigh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Raleigh is through urgent care networks and community health centers, which hire new graduates more consistently than hospital-based surgical or subspecialty practices. Roles like urgent care PA, float PA, or hospital medicine nocturnist give early-career candidates structured volume and quick credentialing experience. WakeMed and similar systems also run structured new-graduate onboarding tracks that can compress the ramp-up period significantly.
Which industries hire the most physician assistants in Raleigh?
The sectors hiring the most physician assistants in Raleigh are Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Raleigh's growth as a regional healthcare hub, driven by population expansion in Wake County and the surrounding Triangle, keeps demand across those sectors consistently above national averages.
