Physician Assistant Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physician assistant job in Austin?
Target Austin's highest-volume hiring pockets first: the large health systems anchored near the Dell Medical School district, the urgent care and multispecialty clinic networks concentrated along I-35 and in north Austin, and the growing number of employer-sponsored and concierge practices in the Domain area. Candidates with surgical or emergency medicine subspecialty experience stand out locally, and familiarity with Spanish is a practical edge given Austin's patient demographics.
Which companies hire physician assistants in Austin?
Companies currently hiring physician assistants in Austin include Ascension, Texas Children's Hospital, and Harbor Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Austin's hiring mix leans toward large integrated health systems, fast-expanding urgent care chains, and a growing tier of technology-adjacent employer health clinics serving the city's major corporate campuses.
Are there remote physician assistant jobs in Austin?
Yes, though options are limited, since most physician assistant work requires direct patient contact and is performed on-site. About 0% of physician assistant openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting roles in telehealth triage, utilization review, and care management. Austin's concentration of telehealth startups and digital health companies produces a slightly higher share of these roles than comparable markets.
How can I get a physician assistant job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is through the city's urgent care and retail clinic networks, which hire new graduates more consistently than large academic medical centers. Federally qualified health centers and community clinics serving central and east Austin frequently post new-graduate positions, especially for bilingual candidates. Rotations or clinical hours completed at Austin-area sites during training also give applicants a direct connection to local hiring managers before they graduate.
Which industries hire the most physician assistants in Austin?
Austin physician assistant roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Insurance, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Austin's rapid population growth, expanding corporate employer base, and the continued buildout of the Dell Medical School ecosystem are the primary forces driving sustained hiring demand across those sectors.
