Physician Assistant Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physician assistant job in Houston?
Target the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, where major hospital systems, specialty practices, and research institutions hire physician assistants continuously. Urgent care chains and multispecialty groups in areas like Katy, Sugar Land, and The Woodlands also post frequently. Candidates with emergency medicine, primary care, or surgical assist experience stand out most in Houston's high-volume clinical environment.
Which companies hire physician assistants in Houston?
Employers hiring physician assistants in Houston right now include Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Methodist, and Texas Children's Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's market is anchored by large academic medical systems, for-profit hospital groups, and independent specialty practices ranging from orthopedics and cardiology to dermatology and oncology.
Are there remote physician assistant jobs in Houston?
Yes, though remote work is limited for physician assistants since most roles require direct patient contact. About 0% of physician assistant openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting roles in telehealth triage and utilization review. In Houston, the remote-friendly subset is most common among insurers and managed care organizations based in the Galleria and Greenway Plaza corridors.
How can I get a physician assistant job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is landing a clinical rotation or student placement at a Texas Medical Center institution, then converting that relationship into a new-graduate hire. Hospital systems affiliated with UTHealth, Baylor, and HCA routinely hire new graduates into supervised hospitalist or emergency medicine roles. Building connections through Houston-area PA student associations and attending local medical society events also opens doors that online applications alone rarely do.
Which industries hire the most physician assistants in Houston?
Most physician assistant openings in Houston sit in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Insurance, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026.
