Physician Jobs in Nashville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physician job in Nashville?
Nashville's physician market is driven by its nationally recognized academic medical centers, large hospital systems, and a dense cluster of multispecialty groups concentrated in the Medical Center district and Midtown. Candidates with board certification, subspecialty training, or experience in value-based care models stand out locally. Engaging directly with health system recruiters and targeting the growing outpatient and ambulatory care sector gives applicants a real edge in this market.
Which companies hire physicians in Nashville?
Employers hiring physicians in Nashville right now include TriStar Health, US Department of Veterans Affairs, and Vituity, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nashville draws a mix of major academic health systems, community hospital networks, and national managed care organizations that have placed headquarters or regional operations in the city.
Are there remote physician jobs in Nashville?
Yes, though remote work is uncommon for most physician roles given the hands-on, patient-facing nature of clinical practice. About 49% of physician openings tied to Nashville are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most of those concentrated in utilization review, telemedicine, and medical director positions rather than direct patient care.
How can I get a physician job in Nashville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Nashville is through residency or fellowship programs affiliated with Vanderbilt University Medical Center or HCA Healthcare, which regularly convert trainees into attending positions. New graduates can also target federally qualified health centers and community health organizations serving Nashville's underserved neighborhoods, where loan forgiveness incentives make entry-level or first-attending roles more accessible and competition is lower than at large academic centers.
Which industries hire the most physicians in Nashville?
Nashville physician roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Consumer Goods, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nashville's identity as a healthcare industry hub, home to dozens of hospital management companies and health services corporations alongside its major clinical systems, sustains unusually broad and consistent physician hiring across both clinical and corporate settings.
