Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Building Substitute to join our educational team! In this vital role, you will step into classrooms across various grade levels and subject areas, ensuring seamless continuity of instruction when regular teachers are absent. In Term 3, you will be responsible to substitute for Physics and Math.

Your energy, adaptability, and commitment to student success will help maintain a positive learning environment, foster student engagement, and uphold school policies. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of diverse learners while gaining valuable classroom experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction based on established lesson plans, curriculum guidelines, and school standards across multiple subjects and grade levels.
• Implement curriculum development strategies and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of individual students, including those with special education needs or autism.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and classroom management skills.
• Foster a supportive learning environment by engaging students in meaningful activities that promote literacy, math skills, early childhood development, and social-emotional growth.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and specialists to ensure consistent instructional practices and share insights on student progress.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance, behavior, and classroom activities in accordance with school policies.
• Utilize educational technologies and computers to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement.
• Follow mandated reporting laws and school policies diligently to ensure student safety and compliance.

Requirements

• Prior experience working with children in educational settings, including Physics, high school Math, and comfortable stepping into every classroom, as needed grades 3-12.
• Knowledge of curriculum implementation, lesson planning, classroom management, behavior management, and instructional adaptability.
• Familiarity with working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those with special needs such as autism or requiring literacy or math support.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and families.
• Experience with educational technologies and computers used in classroom instruction.
• Understanding of childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education or Montessori methods is a plus.
• Ability to work flexibly across different classrooms and grade levels as needed.
• Knowledge of school policy guidelines, mandated reporting laws, and teaching standards is essential.
