We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable high school tutor who can teach across multiple subjects. We are specifically looking for a tutor who pairs strong Math ability with at least one additional subject — Economics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, including AP levels. The ideal candidate communicates complex quantitative and conceptual material clearly, builds customized study plans, and creates a supportive environment where students gain both confidence and measurable results.
Subject Combinations We Need (two or more required)
- Math: Algebra I/II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Statistics
- AP Economics: Macroeconomics and/or Microeconomics
- Physics: Honors, AP Physics 1/2, AP Physics C
- Chemistry: Honors, AP Chemistry
- Biology: Honors, AP Biology
Examples of strong profiles: Math + AP Economics; Math + Physics; Math + Chemistry; AP Chemistry + AP Biology; Physics + Chemistry + Math. Applicants who can teach only pure math are not a fit for this particular opening.
Duties
- Conduct small group sessions across high school and AP-level coursework and test preparation.
- Develop customized lesson plans tailored to each student's level, pacing, and learning style.
- Use effective teaching strategies to strengthen conceptual understanding, problem-solving speed, and retention.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive, specific feedback.
- Prepare students for school assessments, AP exams, and standardized tests.
- Create a positive, engaging atmosphere that encourages participation and motivation.
- Collaborate with students and parents to set achievable academic goals and track progress toward them.
- Provide supplementary practice problems, study materials, and resources between sessions.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience tutoring or teaching high school and AP-level students is required.
- Demonstrated ability to teach two or more of the subjects listed above at an advanced level.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related quantitative or scientific field; graduate degrees and teaching credentials are a plus.
- Strong command of AP curricula, exam formats, and scoring expectations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to break down complex topics clearly.
- Substantial classroom teaching experience is highly valued: 10+ years teaching high school Math, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology is a strong plus, as is experience as an AP course instructor or AP exam reader.
- Current teachers, former teachers, and retired educators seeking a flexible part-time schedule are all encouraged to apply.
