How do I get a planner job in St. Louis?
Target the city's strongest hiring sectors: municipal and regional planning through St. Louis City and St. Louis County agencies, supply chain and logistics roles tied to the area's freight and distribution hub, and urban development positions with development firms and nonprofits active in North City and the riverfront corridor. Candidates who know St. Louis's comprehensive plan or have experience with Metro transit projects stand out in local government searches.
Which companies hire planners in St. Louis?
St. Louis planner roles are posted by Washington University in St. Louis, Clayco, and Edward Jones and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market includes a strong mix of public agencies, healthcare systems, logistics firms, and architecture and engineering consultancies with regional planning practices.
Are there remote planner jobs in St. Louis?
Yes, though it depends on the specialty: analytical and financial planning roles are more remote-friendly, while land use, transportation, and site planning roles are typically on-site. Washington University and SLU graduate programs produce local talent that feeds into both public agencies and private firms, so internships through those pipelines carry weight. Supply chain coordinator roles at area logistics firms are also a strong lateral entry point for candidates without a planning degree specifically.
