INTRODUCTION
The NIEHS Cryo-EM Core is seeking a postdoctoral fellow with prior cryo-EM experience and an interest in cryo-EM core facility management to train in specimen preparation, microscope automation and computational workflows methodologies.
About the position
In this role, prospective postdocs will contribute to projects using single-particle cryo-EM, cryo-electron tomography, and cryo-FIBSEM to study macromolecular assemblies and cellular systems. Work may include optimizing sample preparation, supporting data collection, processing images, developing automated workflows, documenting protocols, and training users.
Our core houses a 300 keV Titan Krios G4, a 200 keV Talos Arctica, an Aquilos cryo-FIBSEM, multiple cryo-EM sample-preparation systems, and access to NIH high-performance and cloud-computing resources. As such, the core supports research teams across NIEHS in close coordination with complementary core facilities in protein expression and purification, viral vectors, NMR, X-ray crystallography, mass spectrometry, molecular dynamics, and related areas.
This position provides advanced training in cryo-EM sample preparation, data collection, image processing, structure determination, scientific communication, and the operational aspects of running a modern cryo-EM core facility.
