Postdoctoral Associate Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a postdoctoral associate in Florida?
Becoming a postdoctoral associate in Florida requires a completed doctoral degree in the relevant field, typically earned before the appointment start date. There is no state-issued license specific to the postdoctoral role itself. Candidates apply directly to individual research institutions and universities, submitting a CV, cover letter, research statement, and references. Positions in clinical or regulated research environments may require additional institutional credentialing or compliance training specific to that facility.
Which companies hire postdoctoral associates in Florida?
Companies currently hiring postdoctoral associates in Florida include University of Miami, University of Florida, and Florida State University, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's combination of major research universities, academic medical centers, and a growing life sciences industry means postdoctoral openings appear across both public institutions and private research organizations throughout the state.
Which Florida cities have the most postdoctoral associate jobs?
Miami, Gainesville, and Orange have the most postdoctoral associate openings in Florida. Gainesville's concentration reflects the University of Florida's large research enterprise, Miami's openings are driven by the University of Miami and its affiliated medical research programs, and Tampa's activity centers on Moffitt Cancer Center and the University of South Florida's health sciences programs.
Are there remote postdoctoral associate jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. Most postdoctoral associate work is hands-on and lab- or clinic-based, making fully remote appointments uncommon. About 20% of postdoctoral associate openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those that are tend to involve computational biology, bioinformatics, data analysis, or science policy roles where bench access is not required.
How can I get hired as a postdoctoral associate in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying while still completing your doctorate, targeting institutions that accept postdoctoral candidates who will defend within months of the start date. Florida's large research universities, including the University of Florida and the University of South Florida, regularly hire early-career postdocs through departmental and training grant positions. Completing a strong dissertation chapter, securing even one publication or preprint, and networking with Florida-based principal investigators at conferences gives candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to postdoctoral associate jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to postdoctoral associate jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across research institutions, academic medical centers, and life sciences organizations.
