Job Summary:
The College of Health Sciences and Technology at STU invites applications for a position at the rank of Instructor in the area of Health Sciences and Physiology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate anatomy courses each semester as well as develop and strengthen an active program for undergraduates. Established, curriculum-based research courses can be used as part of the teaching load. The candidate will be in the unique position to help guide the growth and future of our existing anatomy program as well as work with our newly established Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree. The candidate will work with current faculty to recruit, advise, and retain students.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Physiology or a closely related field such as Health Sciences
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to high quality teaching and research and the ability to work in a multicultural environment and service first-generation college students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in Health Sciences, Anatomy and related subjects.
- Prepares syllabi, instruction materials, coordinates lectures, tests, and evaluations.
- Engages in reflective self-assessment of teaching styles and methods to ensure consistently effective instructional performance.
- Actively serves on university committees.
- Actively participates in institutional meetings.
- Assists with the development of curriculum.
- Continued professional development activity is expected at a level commensurate with the mission of the University. Community, institutional and professional service in furtherance of STU’s mission is expected of all faculty.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Dean, including: assign classes and books, appoint instructors for courses along with supervision of their progress, and advise majors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing and teaching courses in physiology.
- Experience in using modern teaching methods and technologies.
- Participation in professional societies and conferences.
