Villanova University’s Department of Biology invites applications for two Tenure-Track Assistant Professor positions in Physiology beginning August 2027. Research in the Department ranges from molecules to ecosystems, and we maintain a vibrant departmental community of faculty and student scholars committed to advancing new knowledge in Biology. We seek candidates whose research programs focus on physiology, with at least one candidate having a research program in vertebrate physiology.
Successful candidates will establish productive research programs, integrate undergraduate and graduate students into their research, actively seek extramural funding, and contribute to the vibrant curriculum of the department at both the undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) levels. In addition to pursuing outstanding research programs, successful candidates will be expected to provide effective instruction to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students. Successful applicants for both positions will be able to teach courses related to Human Physiology and Anatomy, along with additional courses in their areas of expertise.
We seek candidates whose research, teaching, and/or service have prepared them to contribute to our department’s mission and educational goals. Applicants should have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience. Review of applications will begin 08 September 2026 and continue until the positions are filled.

Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to maintaining an active research agenda leading to publication, our new colleague will teach undergraduate/graduate courses related to human physiology and anatomy and their area of expertise, as well as other departmental courses, in a way that fosters connections across the discipline and the Villanova community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD is required
- Outstanding research potential and excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-doctoral and/or teaching experience is preferred.
