Entry Level Primary Care Physician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level primary care physician job?
Completing your residency training is the foundation, but what sets entry level candidates apart is demonstrating clinical readiness through strong letters of recommendation, documented patient volume from rotations, and board certification or eligibility. Employers at this stage look for candidates who can step into a panel quickly, communicate effectively with patients, and work within a team-based care model. Highlighting any continuity clinic experience or quality improvement projects strengthens an application.
Which companies hire entry level primary care physicians?
Companies hiring entry level primary care physicians right now include Optum, CommonSpirit Health, and ChenMed, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Health systems, federally qualified health centers, large multispecialty group practices, and urgent care networks are among the employer types most actively building out primary care capacity at the entry level.
Are there remote entry level primary care physician jobs?
Yes, though most primary care roles require in-person patient contact, telehealth has created a growing share of remote and hybrid options. About 2% of entry level primary care physician openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with telehealth-focused practices and virtual-first clinics accounting for most of those positions. In-person roles remain the majority for new grads building foundational clinical skills.
Are these new grad primary care physician jobs?
Yes, this page includes new grad, recent graduate, and junior primary care physician roles. A new-grad-friendly posting typically welcomes candidates with zero to two years of post-residency experience, accepts residency rotations or fellowship training in place of independent practice history, and does not require an established patient panel. Looking for language like 'new graduates encouraged to apply' or 'will train' is a reliable signal.
Which industries hire the most entry level primary care physicians?
Entry Level primary care physician roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Consulting & Professional Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate high patient volume environments, receive federal or state funding that supports physician growth programs, and face ongoing demand for accessible preventive and chronic disease care.
