Principal Jobs in El Segundo: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a principal job in El Segundo?
El Segundo's hiring concentrates in aerospace and defense, technology, and corporate services, so candidates who can point to domain expertise in one of those sectors stand out immediately. Roles cluster along Aviation Boulevard and the Douglas Street corridor, where large primes and mid-size contractors hire principal engineers, program leads, and educational administrators. Tailoring your application to the specific operational environment, whether a defense program office or a campus leadership team, is what separates competitive candidates here.
Which companies hire principals in El Segundo?
El Segundo principal roles are posted by Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and Collins Aerospace and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. El Segundo's employer base skews heavily toward aerospace primes, defense contractors, and tech-adjacent firms with large engineering and operations teams, making it one of the more concentrated principal hiring markets on the South Bay.
Are there remote principal jobs in El Segundo?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role type: hands-on principal engineers and school principals are almost always on-site, while principal analysts, program strategists, and technical leads in software or corporate functions can often work remotely. About 8% of principal openings tied to El Segundo are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting the mix of defense-site-required and office-based positions. The most remote-friendly openings tend to sit in technology and corporate services rather than aerospace manufacturing or K-12 administration.
How can I get a principal job in El Segundo with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in El Segundo is moving through a senior specialist or lead role at one of the defense or tech employers along the Aviation Boulevard corridor, where internal promotion to principal is common. Entry-level candidates do well targeting associate principal or program coordinator roles at mid-size contractors or the El Segundo Unified School District, which provides a direct pipeline into campus leadership. Holding a relevant credential, whether a professional engineering license, a PMP, or a teaching credential with an administrative track, accelerates that progression significantly in this market.
