Process Control Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Process Engineer with strong experience in PLC-controlled automation, conveyor systems, packaging equipment, mechanical systems, and industrial robotics to support automated manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience troubleshooting, optimizing, and improving automated production lines and manufacturing equipment. This role will focus on improving equipment reliability, production throughput, product quality, cycle time, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) while supporting automation projects, equipment qualification, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, optimize, and sustain manufacturing, assembly, material-handling, and packaging processes.
- Troubleshoot and optimize PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment, conveyor systems, robotics, sensors, motors, actuators, and automated production systems.
- Support the installation, commissioning, startup, qualification, and production ramp-up of automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems, including pneumatics, motors, gearboxes, actuators, assemblies, fixtures, and material-handling equipment.
- Support programming, troubleshooting, and optimization of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, actuators, and industrial control systems.
- Work with industrial robots, robotic cells, automated pick-and-place systems, automated assembly equipment, and robotic material-handling systems.
- Optimize conveyor systems, packaging lines, automation flow, line balancing, cycle time, and production throughput.
- Identify recurring equipment and process issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), process development, equipment qualification, validation, and manufacturing scale-up/ramp-up activities.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, process specifications, equipment documentation, process flow diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and improve key manufacturing metrics, including OEE, yield, scrap, downtime, cycle time, throughput, and production efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, Controls, Packaging, Automation, and Engineering teams to resolve production and equipment issues.
- Support the development and improvement of tooling, fixtures, mechanical modifications, and automation systems.
- Ensure manufacturing processes and equipment meet applicable safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of Process Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience within an automated manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and industrial automation systems.
- Experience with conveyor systems, packaging equipment, automated assembly equipment, and/or automated material-handling systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, assemblies, pneumatics, motors, actuators, gearboxes, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Experience working with industrial robotics, robotic cells, automated assembly systems, pick-and-place equipment, or robotic material handling.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, actuators, and industrial controls.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, process diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience with process optimization, line balancing, cycle-time reduction, throughput improvement, and production efficiency initiatives.
- Working knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, Control Plans, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Experience with robotics integration, automation implementation, equipment upgrades, or manufacturing automation projects.
- Experience supporting high-volume automated manufacturing or packaging operations.
- Experience with equipment commissioning, qualification, validation, and production ramp-up.
- Demonstrated experience improving OEE, equipment reliability, throughput, cycle time, and manufacturing efficiency.
