There is no state-issued license required to work in this role in California. Employers in the state's technology and enterprise software sectors consistently look for candidates who can demonstrate cross-functional project ownership and operational process improvement.
Which companies hire product operations managers in California?
Employers hiring product operations managers in California right now include TikTok, lululemon, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's concentration of large technology headquarters and enterprise software companies makes it one of the most consistent states for this role year-round.

The distribution follows the state's technology and enterprise industry clusters, with San Francisco and surrounding Bay Area cities driven by software and platform companies, Los Angeles anchored by media, consumer tech, and health tech employers, and San Diego driven by biotech and defense technology firms with scaled product teams.
