The Production Worker / Packer is responsible for preparing products for shipment while also assisting in the fabrication of sheet metal components. This position includes assembling products, operating sheet metal fabrication equipment, picking materials from inventory, and packaging finished products for shipment. Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication equipment, including CNC punch presses, hydraulic press brakes (metal brakes), and metal shears.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and shop drawings to produce parts to required specifications.
- Perform basic machine setup, tooling changes, and adjustments as required.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality.
- Deburr, clean, and prepare fabricated parts for assembly or shipment.
- Receive incoming materials and verify packing slips for accuracy.
- Accurately pick materials and products from inventory according to work orders and customer orders.
- Assemble products and components following work instructions and quality standards.
- Inspect products for defects and verify quality before packaging.
- Package products securely using appropriate packing materials to prevent damage during shipment.
- Weigh, label, and prepare packages for shipment, ensuring all shipping information is accurate.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by reporting shortages, damaged materials, or discrepancies.
- Keep accurate production, shipping, and receiving records as required.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on machines and work areas.
- Follow all company safety procedures, machine operating guidelines, and quality standards.
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment when authorized.
- Perform other production, fabrication, and warehouse duties as assigned.
