YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Gas Cylinder Operator I will assist in the cylinder requalification and repair process and manually and/or with the aid of material handling equipment move industrial gas cylinders to different areas of the plant and loads/unloads cylinders from delivery trucks.
- Adhere to and support compliance with the Code of Conduct/Handbook, policies and procedures and all applicable rules, regulations and standards established by Federal, State and other applicable agencies or regulating bodies.
- Pioneer the way within the Airgas culture – putting safety first. We are looking for someone to safely operate forklift, hand-truck, pallet-jack, chain hoist, etc. to load/unload compressed and liquid industrial gas cylinders to and from delivery trucks to filling and storage areas.
- You may load cylinders onto vehicles manually or with the aid of material handling equipment. Transfer plant cylinders to different areas within the facility using a forklift.
- Collaborate to organize and streamline cylinders for efficient refilling and handling.
- Nurture open communication by notifying your supervisor if normal truck loading duties cannot be completed effectively for any reason. Replace pallet straps as necessary.
- Maintain accurate load sheets and distribute to drivers at the end of shift.
- Support the team by reporting any equipment or facility defect(s) to your supervisor.
- Help keep the team safe by ensuring any accident or injury is promptly reported.
- Perform cylinder cleaning, painting and general maintenance when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
ARE YOU A MATCH?
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
- Be able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience and/or training preferred
- Must be customer service oriented and able to interact with fellow Associates in a professional manner
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detailed-oriented with good organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, MSDS, and procedure manuals
- Possess basic mathematic and written skills
The hourly base pay range for this position in Nevada is $19.00 - $22.00. Please note that the hourly base pay information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
COMPENSATION
- Pay: $19.00/hr - $22.00/hr +.25 shift differential
- Shift: 4pm - 12:30am, Monday - Friday
