Description
Role Summary
Wolfe is a Pittsburgh-based FinTech company building the next generation of financial products, and we are actively embedding AI across our product, our internal processes, and the way our teams work day-to-day. As the Manufacturing Lead Operator in our card production plant, you will lead a shift team of 4 to 8 operators while running a machine or process yourself, keeping the line moving so daily SLA and quality goals are met. You'll work with increasingly data-driven and AI-supported tools for reporting and workflow management, helping bring that same modernization onto the production floor. We're looking for a hands-on leader who takes pride in a clean, well-run shift and in developing the operators around them. This is a 5-day onsite role in Pittsburgh, PA.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a shift team of 4 to 8 production operators while running a machine or process on the line yourself.
- Keep card production flowing so the daily 100% shipping SLA is met by the 7:00 pm cutoff, monitoring the CPM system daily and documenting any errors in weekly reports.
- Uphold the shift quality goal of zero customer-impacting errors, logging and tracking every error in Google Sheets for follow-up.
- Train operators, redeploy staff across production areas as workflow dictates, and partner with in-house machine technicians to resolve machine errors and breakdowns.
- Complete shift administration (timesheet sign-off, PTO in Zenefits, and on-time 30/60/90-day, semi-annual, and annual reviews) and escalate shift issues to the Director of Plant Operations.
- Maintain inventory, PCI compliance, and a clean, organized production floor.
Impact Statement
For more clarity on the role, below are the success metrics and measurements for this role in the first 90 to 120 days:
- Master the Card Processing Management (CPM) system and independently manage daily workflow to hit the 100% shipping SLA by the 7:00 pm cutoff across your shifts.
- Pull reporting from Metabase and deliver accurate, on-time weekly error and quality reports with no gaps.
- Demonstrate the ability to run every machine in the production environment and step in at any station as workflow requires.
- Operate in full adherence to all PCI requirements on the floor, with no compliance findings during the period.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of leadership or team-lead experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on ability to run production machinery and step into any process on the line as needed.
- Proven ability to train, coach, and provide direction to junior operators during a shift.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus comfort learning production and reporting systems (CPM, Metabase) and HR tools (Zenefits).
- Familiarity with PCI compliance requirements in a manufacturing setting, or the ability to learn them quickly.
- Flexibility to work variable or extended hours as production demands.
- Physical Requirements: Able to stand and walk for the duration of a shift, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and perform the repetitive motions associated with operating production equipment.

Manufacturing Operator Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a manufacturing operator in Pennsylvania?
Most manufacturing operator roles in Pennsylvania require a high school diploma or GED and are filled through on-the-job training provided by the employer. Pennsylvania does not issue a state license for general manufacturing operators, but roles in pharmaceutical manufacturing often require documented GMP training, and chemical plant positions may require HAZWOPER certification through an OSHA-authorized provider. Employers in the Lehigh Valley and Pittsburgh regions frequently offer paid training programs for qualified entry-level candidates.
Which companies hire manufacturing operators in Pennsylvania?
Companies currently hiring manufacturing operators in Pennsylvania include Davlyn, laborup, and Kennametal, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's strong pharmaceutical, food processing, and specialty chemicals industries mean that large manufacturers with deep roots in the state are consistently among the most active hirers.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most manufacturing operator jobs?
Spring City, Bedford, and Pittsburgh are the Pennsylvania cities with the most manufacturing operator openings. Philadelphia anchors hiring in pharmaceutical and life sciences production, Pittsburgh drives demand through metals, industrial coatings, and energy-related manufacturing, and Allentown and the surrounding Lehigh Valley draw openings from food processing, cement, and specialty chemicals employers with long-established facilities in the region.
Are there remote manufacturing operator jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. Manufacturing operator work is fundamentally hands-on and tied to physical production lines, so most roles require on-site presence. About 0% of manufacturing operator openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be quality documentation, process review, or production scheduling responsibilities that can occasionally be performed off-site rather than core floor operator duties.
How can I get hired as a manufacturing operator in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to production associate or line technician roles at Pennsylvania's large food, pharma, and chemicals manufacturers, which routinely hire candidates without prior experience and train on the job. Employers like Merck's Pennsylvania facilities and regional food processing plants in central and southeastern Pennsylvania run structured onboarding for new hires. Completing a short OSHA ten-hour general industry course or a basic GMP awareness certificate gives candidates a clear edge in application screening and speeds up the training timeline once hired.
Where can I find and apply to manufacturing operator jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to manufacturing operator jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the available roles, find positions that match your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
