No state-issued license is required for the role itself, though employers in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals or medical devices expect familiarity with GMP standards. Completing a vocational program at a Massachusetts community college in manufacturing technology or industrial operations gives candidates a competitive edge.
Which companies hire manufacturing operators in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring manufacturing operators in Massachusetts right now include Entegris, Julian Woods, and Tegra Medical, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's strong concentration of defense, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing companies means consistent demand across both large corporations and specialized contract manufacturers.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most manufacturing operator jobs?
Bedford, Walpole, and Franklin have the most manufacturing operator openings in Massachusetts. The distribution reflects the state's industrial geography: Greater Boston and its suburbs anchor life sciences and medical device production, Worcester supports a dense cluster of precision and defense manufacturers, and Lowell's legacy industrial base has transitioned into advanced and contract manufacturing that continues to drive steady hiring.
Are there remote manufacturing operator jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're rare. Manufacturing operator work is fundamentally hands-on and tied to physical production equipment, so most roles require full on-site presence. About 0% of manufacturing operator openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be quality documentation, process monitoring, or training coordination functions rather than direct floor production.
How can I get hired as a manufacturing operator in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
