Production Associate Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production associate in Massachusetts?
Most production associate roles in Massachusetts require a high school diploma or equivalent, with no state-issued license mandated for the general position. However, candidates targeting life sciences or pharmaceutical manufacturing should pursue OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification and GMP training, which Massachusetts employers in regulated industries treat as near-mandatory. Completing a certificate program through a Massachusetts community college, such as those offered by Quinsigamond Community College or Middlesex Community College in advanced manufacturing, significantly strengthens an application.
Which companies hire production associates in Massachusetts?
Companies currently hiring production associates in Massachusetts include Altium Packaging, FIS, and Airgas, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of life sciences, defense, and medical device manufacturers means large anchor employers like Thermo Fisher Scientific, Raytheon Technologies, and Boston Scientific are consistently among the most active hirers in the state.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most production associate jobs?
Turners Falls, Canton, and Billerica have the most production associate openings in Massachusetts. Greater Boston drives the largest share of demand thanks to its dense concentration of biotech and pharmaceutical manufacturers, while Worcester's industrial base and Lowell's history as a manufacturing center anchor strong hiring in those metros, including roles tied to defense contractors and medical device firms operating in those corridors.
Are there remote production associate jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're rare. Production associate work is inherently hands-on and tied to a physical manufacturing floor, cleanroom, or assembly line, so fully remote roles represent a small fraction of total openings. About 0% of production associate openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve production scheduling, quality documentation review, or supply chain coordination rather than direct floor work.
How can I get hired as a production associate in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to temp-to-hire or contract production roles through Massachusetts manufacturing employers, many of which use staffing partnerships to bring on new workers before converting them to full-time. Large employers like Thermo Fisher Scientific and Raytheon Technologies run structured onboarding programs that train entry-level hires on GMP compliance and equipment operation. Completing an OSHA 10-hour certification or a short advanced manufacturing certificate from a Massachusetts community college gives candidates a clear edge over other applicants with no floor experience.
