Position Summary

The Production Associate supports the daily operations of Tico Coffee Roasters’ roasting facility by accurately and efficiently preparing coffee orders, operating production equipment, maintaining inventory, and keeping the production and warehouse areas clean, organized, and safe.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on position that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, reliability, initiative, and the ability to work with a sense of urgency. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, willing to learn, comfortable performing repetitive physical tasks, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

The Production Associate will report directly to the Warehouse & Production Supervisor and will help ensure that orders are completed accurately, on time, and according to Tico Coffee Roasters’ quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Order Fulfillment

• Accurately prepare, fill, package, label, and assemble coffee orders for wholesale, retail, and delivery.
• Prep, organize, fill, and quality-check coffee bags according to daily production needs.
• Operate production equipment including weigh-and-fill machines, band sealers, scales, grinders, label applicators, and label printers.
• Monitor production processes to ensure products are prepared according to specifications.
• Perform quality checks to ensure coffee, packaging, labels, and finished products meet Tico Coffee Roasters’ standards.
• Troubleshoot routine production issues and communicate problems to the Warehouse & Production Supervisor.
• Ensure that every bag of coffee is accurately packaged and represents Tico Coffee Roasters’ quality standards.
• Maintain knowledge of Tico Coffee Roasters’ products, packaging, equipment, and production procedures.

Warehouse & Inventory

• Restock coffee, packaging, and other production supplies as needed.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, organizing, and putting away incoming shipments.
• Maintain accurate and organized inventory in designated storage areas.
• Help maintain the organization of the roastery, warehouse, and merchandise areas.
• Assist with shipping, receiving, and general warehouse duties as needed.

Cleaning, Safety & Sanitation

• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary production and work areas throughout the shift.
• Complete daily cleaning of work areas and basic equipment maintenance.
• Follow all company safety, quality, sanitation, and production procedures.
• Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Properly handle cleaning products and chemicals according to company procedures.
• Report equipment, safety, sanitation, or quality concerns promptly.

Teamwork & Professionalism

• Communicate regularly and effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure accurate production and order fulfillment.
• Follow directions and complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Demonstrate initiative and a proactive, can-do attitude.
• Work with a sense of urgency while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 18 years of age or older.

Preferred

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, fulfillment, or food-production environment.
• Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory, or general warehouse operations.
• Coffee industry or coffee production experience.
• Basic knowledge of coffee and coffee products.
• Interest in developing additional coffee knowledge and skills.

Physical Requirements

The Production Associate position is physically demanding and requires the ability to perform the following essential functions:

• Stand and remain on your feet for extended periods, including up to 8 hours during a workday.
• Walk, bend, twist, squat, stoop, crouch, reach, and climb ladders as needed.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull products, packaging, and equipment.
• Safely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Occasionally handle or hoist heavier items, including items weighing up to approximately 150 pounds, with appropriate assistance or equipment.
• Lift and place products or packaging at various heights, including overhead.
• Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Use hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
• Maintain sufficient finger and wrist dexterity to operate production machinery and equipment.
• Perform tasks requiring close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The Tico Coffee Roasters production facility is a working roasting and warehouse environment and is not climate-controlled. Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, including heat during the summer and cold during the winter.

Employees may also be exposed to coffee dust, machinery noise, cleaning products, and other conditions typical of a coffee roasting and production facility. Appropriate safety procedures and protective equipment will be provided as required.

There is a 90 days trial period in which the applicant must demonstrate:
