Talent Acquisition Specialist Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a talent acquisition specialist in Pennsylvania?
Most talent acquisition specialist roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field, and Pennsylvania does not issue a state license for this role. Employers across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg typically expect candidates to hold or be working toward an SHRM or HRCI credential, such as the SHRM-CP or PHR, which are nationally recognized and widely respected by Pennsylvania HR departments. Relevant internships or HR coordinator experience in the state are the most common entry points.
Which companies hire talent acquisition specialists in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania talent acquisition specialist roles are posted by Aramark, Lutron Electronics, and Nyman Associates and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large health systems, insurance companies, and financial services firms means ongoing demand for in-house talent acquisition teams throughout the year.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most talent acquisition specialist jobs?
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Bensalem have the most talent acquisition specialist openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia's dominant concentration of healthcare systems, insurance carriers, and corporate headquarters drives the bulk of statewide postings, while Pittsburgh's growing technology and healthcare sectors add significant volume, and suburban markets like King of Prussia benefit from the large financial and pharmaceutical employers anchored along the Route 202 corridor.
Are there remote talent acquisition specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields, since talent acquisition work is largely phone and video based and does not require physical presence. About 55% of talent acquisition specialist openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how well-suited the role is to distributed work arrangements. Sourcing, screening, and coordination functions are the most commonly performed remotely, while onboarding and campus recruiting roles tend to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a talent acquisition specialist in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an HR coordinator or recruiting coordinator role at a large Pennsylvania employer, since these positions handle scheduling, ATS management, and candidate communication and provide direct exposure to the full recruiting cycle. Health systems like UPMC and Penn Medicine, as well as large insurers and universities across Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, regularly hire HR operations and sourcing support staff at the entry level. Earning a SHRM-CP or completing an HRCI aPHR credential strengthens applications significantly, and many Pennsylvania HR departments will consider candidates who hold these credentials without prior recruiting experience.
