Production Specialist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production specialist in New York?
The path depends on the industry. For pharmaceutical or biotech production in New York, employers typically require a degree in life sciences, engineering, or a related field plus familiarity with GMP standards enforced by state and federal regulators. For media and broadcast production, a degree or portfolio in communications or film production is the standard entry point. New York does not issue a single state license for production specialists, so credentials, on-the-job training, and industry-specific certifications carry the most weight with hiring managers.
Which companies hire production specialists in New York?
Employers hiring production specialists in New York right now include Bank of America, Target, and The New School, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of media conglomerates, major pharmaceutical manufacturers, and consumer goods companies means production specialist openings appear across a broad range of industries throughout the state.
Which New York cities have the most production specialist jobs?
New York, Bridgehampton, and Brooklyn have the most production specialist openings in New York. New York City dominates due to its media, entertainment, and corporate headquarters concentration, while Buffalo and Albany attract openings tied to regional manufacturing operations and state government-linked production work that distributes demand beyond the metro.
Are there remote production specialist jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since many production specialist roles involve on-site coordination of equipment, teams, or physical output. About 19% of production specialist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. The sub-areas most likely to offer remote flexibility are digital content production, post-production editing, and production planning roles that do not require a physical presence on a floor or set.
How can I get hired as a production specialist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a production assistant or associate role, which large New York employers in media and manufacturing use to bring in candidates without direct experience. NBCUniversal and other New York-based studios run entry-level production programs, and pharmaceutical manufacturers in the Hudson Valley and Long Island regions hire production technician trainees. Adjacent roles in logistics coordination, quality assurance, or post-production support are common lateral moves in. Building a portfolio or earning a GMP or broadcast operations certificate gives candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to production specialist jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to production specialist jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
