Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent terminal degree, and experience teaching medical/graduate level classes in anatomical sciences and/or a biomedical discipline. The successful candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic educator with a desire to join an interdisciplinary team of foundational science and clinician colleagues working to deliver an integrated curriculum utilizing learner-centered modalities. Duties will include classroom, large group and small group instruction, course administration (director/co-director), assist in coordination of the horizontal and vertical preclinical medical curriculum, service on school committees and active scholarship in education or community-oriented research.
- Develop, teach, and coordinate the sequencing and assessment of foundational content with appropriate clinical context at the designated level of learner within various educational programs while adhering to all programmatic and institutional policies and procedures.
- Provide information and data to evaluate horizontal and vertical integration of the preclinical MD curriculum and identify areas for improvement of integration (where applicable).
- Provide administrative and/or leadership support to courses/programs as assigned for the educational mission of VHS.
- Participate in institutional and programmatic committees and subcommittees as assigned/needed for the educational mission.
- Provide mentorship for students in the academic and/or scholarship/research setting.
- Active scholarship in education or community-oriented research.
- PhD or equivalent terminal degree
- Expertise in anatomical sciences (gross, histology, embryo, neuroanatomy) and/or biomedical discipline (pathophys, pharm, etc.)
- Skill in course administration (course director/co-director)
- Skill in evaluation and feedback for medical students
- Knowledge of institution’s medical program objectives: Medical Education Program Objectives (MEPOs)
- Knowledge of institution’s pre-clinical and clinical curriculum
- Good communication skills and interpersonal relationships
