Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The PPE Program Coordinator (Fit Testing & Competency) is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and continuous improvement of the organization’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program, with a primary focus on physicians and advanced practice providers. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements through the coordination of fit testing, workforce education, and competency validation processes for providers and employees. The coordinator partners closely with medical staff leadership and operational teams to promote workforce safety, ensure provider readiness, and maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Program Management
- Coordinate and maintain the organization’s PPE program, with primary accountability for provider participation and compliance
- Ensure alignment with regulatory and organizational safety standards
- Maintain policies, procedures, and documentation for the PPE program
- Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements
Provider-Focused Fit Testing Oversight
- Lead coordination of fit testing for physicians and advanced practice providers, including onboarding and annual requirements
- Develop flexible scheduling solutions to meet provider availability
- Collaborate with Medical Staff Office and physician leadership to drive compliance
- Track participation and follow up on outstanding requirements
Employee Fit Testing Coordination
- Coordinate fit testing for employees across departments
- Partner with leaders to ensure timely onboarding and annual renewals
- Support organization-wide fit testing initiatives and events
Education & Training
- Coordinate and deliver PPE-related education for providers and employees
- Ensure completion of required onboarding and annual education
- Maintain and update training materials in alignment with current standards
- Partner with education teams to integrate PPE content into learning programs
Competency Development & Validation
- Implement PPE competency validation processes
- Track and monitor completion across providers and staff
- Support leaders in addressing competency gaps
- Standardize tools and approaches for competency assessment
Compliance & Reporting
- Monitor compliance with fit testing, education, and competency requirements, with a focus on provider groups
- Generate and distribute compliance and performance reports
- Support audits, surveys, and regulatory readiness efforts
- Assist in corrective action planning for identified gaps
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with:
- Medical Staff Office
- Physician leadership
- Safety and compliance teams
- Employee Health and Education departments
- Infection prevention and control
- Education Department
- Serve as a resource for PPE program processes and expectations
Support organizational safety and risk reduction initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Associate's Degree in allied health or a healthcare-related field. Required

Work Experience
- 1-3 years in program coordination, training, compliance, healthcare operations, or workforce safety. Preferred
- 1-3 years Experience working with physicians or provider groups. Preferred
- 1-3 years Familiarity with compliance tracking systems or learning management systems (LMS). Preferred

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams
- Comprehensive knowledge of PPE standards, fit testing requirements, regulatory compliance, and workforce safety practices in healthcare environments
- Strong program coordination and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and large-scale initiatives
- Ability to coordinate, deliver, and evaluate education and training programs using adult learning principles
- Proficiency in data tracking, compliance monitoring, and report generation with strong attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to analyze performance data, identify gaps, and implement process improvements and corrective actions
- Skilled in stakeholder collaboration and relationship management across medical staff, leadership, and operational teams
- Ability to manage complex scheduling and logistics, including accommodating provider availability and organizational needs
- Capacity to standardize and implement competency validation processes and ensure consistent program execution
- Ability to work independently while supporting audit readiness, regulatory reviews, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
