Program Coordinator Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a program coordinator job in Philadelphia?
Focus your search on Philadelphia's largest hiring sectors: academic medical centers and hospital networks, universities and community colleges, and mission-driven nonprofits concentrated in University City, Center City, and Germantown. Candidates who stand out typically have direct experience managing grants, coordinating community outreach, or supporting research operations. Tailoring your application to each organization's specific program area, whether clinical research, workforce development, or social services, gives you a concrete edge in this market.
Which companies hire program coordinators in Philadelphia?
Companies currently hiring program coordinators in Philadelphia include University of Pennsylvania, School District of Philadelphia, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Philadelphia's hiring mix skews heavily toward health systems, research universities, and community-based organizations, all of which maintain ongoing demand for program coordination across their departments and grant-funded initiatives.
Are there remote program coordinator jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: desk-based coordination work such as grant reporting, scheduling, and data tracking is more remote-friendly, while roles tied to community programming or clinical operations typically require on-site presence. About 33% of program coordinator openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at research institutions and larger nonprofits headquartered downtown.
How can I get a program coordinator job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is through AmeriCorps placements, program assistant roles at nonprofits, or administrative positions within university departments, all of which commonly promote from within. Organizations in Germantown, West Philadelphia, and North Philadelphia that run federally funded community programs frequently hire entry-level candidates willing to learn grant compliance and participant tracking on the job. Volunteer coordination experience with local civic or advocacy groups also translates directly and is valued by Philadelphia's large nonprofit sector.
