Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Engineer / Assistant Superintendent to join our construction team. In this role, you will be instrumental in overseeing construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with all specifications and regulations. You will collaborate closely with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to coordinate schedules, review technical drawings, and maintain quality control. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage diverse construction activities across commercial construction projects while fostering a safe and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project schedules using MS Project or similar construction management software to ensure timely project delivery.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and construction plans to verify accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate construction schedules across multiple teams, managing sequencing of activities to optimize workflow and resource allocation.
- Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to federal construction safety regulations such as OSHA standards.
- Manage subcontractor contracts, change orders, and procurement processes while maintaining accurate documentation for all project transactions.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets design standards, schematics, and client expectations.
- Oversee construction site safety protocols, enforce OSHA compliance, and conduct regular safety meetings to promote a secure work environment.
- Collaborate with project teams on construction estimating, budgeting, and cost control measures to keep projects financially on track.
- Review construction drawings for accuracy; interpret technical details for field teams; supervise the management of construction site logistics including material handling and scheduling.
- Lead efforts in managing teams on-site by supervising labor crews and subcontractors while fostering clear communication and teamwork.
Skills
- Proficiency in construction management software including ProCore, Bluebeam, MS Project, and other relevant tools.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles with hands-on experience in general building projects.
- Excellent understanding of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical drawing review.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective management skills with experience supervising teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations such as OSHA standards; ability to enforce safety protocols consistently.
- Skilled in construction scheduling, project coordination, budgeting, and cost estimating processes.
- Ability to interpret technical documents accurately and communicate complex information clearly across teams.
- Experience with construction site safety inspections using tools like Ohmmeter for electrical testing when applicable.
