Project Controls Manager Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project controls manager job in Los Angeles?
The strongest path into Los Angeles project controls roles is targeting the city's dominant sectors: infrastructure megaprojects tied to transit expansion, aerospace and defense contractors in the South Bay, and entertainment studio capital improvement programs. Candidates who can demonstrate earned value management experience and familiarity with large public-sector or design-build contracts stand out most in this market. Networking through local construction and engineering associations active in the LA basin also accelerates hiring timelines significantly.
Which companies hire project controls managers in Los Angeles?
Companies currently hiring project controls managers in Los Angeles include STV, Cumming, and MAAS COMPANIES, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Los Angeles hiring draws heavily from prime contractors on public transit and infrastructure programs, aerospace and defense primes in the South Bay corridor, and large owner-operators in the entertainment and commercial real estate sectors.
Are there remote project controls manager jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, but with limits: project controls manager work is often site-tied, especially roles overseeing active construction or aerospace manufacturing programs, while schedule analysis and cost reporting functions skew more remote-friendly. About 11% of project controls manager openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the fully remote share concentrated in corporate PMO and program controls analytics roles rather than field-facing positions.
How can I get a project controls manager job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is through project controls analyst or scheduler roles at large engineering and construction firms supporting the metro area's ongoing transit and infrastructure buildout. Owner-operators running capital programs, regional construction management firms, and aerospace subcontractors in the South Bay regularly hire early-career candidates willing to start in cost or schedule support functions. Certifications in Primavera P6 and a working familiarity with earned value reporting give entry-level candidates a concrete edge over generalist applicants in this market.
Which industries hire the most project controls managers in Los Angeles?
Most project controls manager openings in Los Angeles sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Energy, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Los Angeles's combination of major public transit expansion programs, a dense aerospace and defense industrial base in the South Bay, and continuous entertainment studio and commercial real estate capital investment keeps demand for project controls professionals consistently high across those sectors.
