This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week on Mondays & Wednesdays. Remote candidates may also be considered.
Nationwide is seeking a Specialist, Technology Engineer (Identity Access Management) to support the ISGA team with a strong focus on SailPoint IdentityIQ engineering, application onboarding, provisioning automation, governance controls, and production support. This is a specialist engineering role for a candidate who brings strong IdentityIQ, IAM, and development skills and can help improve identity lifecycle services, access governance, audit readiness, and platform reliability.
The role supports Nationwide’s internal identity environment, including internal human identities, non-human identities, shared IDs, and secondary IDs. The engineer will work across IdentityIQ platform support, integrations, automation, troubleshooting, governance, and modernization efforts while partnering with product, operations, and application teams.
Key Skills and Responsibilities
Strong SailPoint IdentityIQ engineering experience, including configuration, workflows, rules, provisioning, and application onboarding
Strong IAM knowledge across joiner, mover, leaver processes, access governance, certification, provisioning, and deprovisioning
Experience supporting internal human identities, non-human identities, shared IDs, and secondary IDs
Strong Java development skills for IdentityIQ enhancements, custom logic, and integration development
Hands-on experience with REST APIs, file-based integrations, connector-driven integrations, and system troubleshooting
Strong troubleshooting skills across failed provisioning, task failures, connector issues, identity data issues, and operational incidents
Experience with SQL, JSON, XML, shell scripting, or similar developer tools used for automation and support
Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines, code promotion, and automated deployment practices
Experience with production monitoring, dashboards, alerts, and service reliability for IAM platforms
Experience supporting governance requirements, audit controls, control effectiveness, and audit readiness
Familiarity with CCM controls, identity hygiene monitoring, and governance practices tied to access quality and compliance
Working knowledge of AI concepts and the ability to apply them to IAM operations, analysis, engineering productivity, and governance processes
Preferred Background
Experience supporting SailPoint IdentityIQ in a large enterprise environment
Experience with platform modernization and engineering process improvements
Experience improving IAM dashboards, alerting, and operational visibility
Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Creates and implements standard builds/templates for all technology platforms.
Drives requirements to meet current and future needs, tracks and reports capacity postures.
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Analyzes reports and delivery recommendations to remediate capacity issues.
Implements capacity enhancements.
Designs standard and custom technology solutions for business partner projects, including pre-production testing, performance tuning, handoffs and certification.
Delivers technology/product optimization, migrations and management, including technology/product design, planning, power and environmental management.
Collaborates with others to develop meaningful metrics that drive fact-based decisions on a given product/environment/solution.
Conducts proactive system maintenance, disaster recovery planning, data backup and recovery as well as inventory, configuration and utility product management.
Executes production engineering processes, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management and knowledge management.
Provides production support for all technology platforms.
Provides oversight for technical labs and development environments.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director Technology Engineering Manager/Technology Product Manager.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or a related field is preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or designation are not required, but encouraged (i.e.: AWS, Azure, scripting and development languages, delivery methods, security).
Experience: Four years of experience with moderately complex integrated solutions and an ability to develop and modify existing solutions for specialized needs. Experience with automation of solution configurations deployment and with system management processes and tools. Experience with concepts and solutions: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and Package Solutions.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong communication skills, knowledge of planning, management and execution of Accelerated Solutions Deliver framework, Information Security acumen. Influencing, negotiating and priority setting is needed. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.
