ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:

The Social and Behavioral Sciences department at Colorado Mesa University is seeking a visiting instructor of psychology. Colorado Mesa University is a state-funded, largely undergraduate institution that emphasizes quality teaching. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Courses will be taught via a combination of in-person, hybrid, and distance delivery modalities. Teaching will be the successful candidate’s primary responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Teaching core and elective undergraduate psychology courses, which may include the following topic areas: Biopsychology, Drugs and Human Behavior, General Psychology, and Research Methods.
• Teaching in other areas of specialization within the psychology discipline will be considered, requisite with the candidate’s experience and expertise.
• The ability to teach in-person lecture format, as well as online.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• Ph.D. in Psychology or related field required, ABD may be considered.
• Experience teaching undergraduate-level psychology courses.
• Experience with basic classroom technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidates that can demonstrate excellence in teaching the required courses for this position will be given preference.
• Candidates with a background in biological, cognitive, or health psychology will also be given preference.
• Candidates who have supervised undergraduate research are desired.
• Candidates who have experience advising and mentoring students are desired.
• Experience with learning management systems (Desire 2 Learn, etc...), video conferencing software, and Microsoft Office Programs.

Salary:

$53,000-$55,000. Commensurate with education and experience. Excellent health and retirement benefits package.
