Entry Level Public Relations Specialist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level public relations specialist job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who can write clearly, pitch confidently, and manage multiple deadlines. A portfolio of press releases, media pitches, or campus communications work gives you a concrete edge. Internship experience at a PR agency, brand, or nonprofit signals you understand the pace of the work. Familiarity with media contact databases and basic social media management rounds out a competitive application at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level public relations specialists?

Are there remote entry level public relations specialist jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles remain common at this career stage. About 21% of entry level public relations specialist openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, giving candidates flexibility without limiting their options. Many employers prefer early-career PR specialists to work alongside senior team members in person, at least part of the week, for mentorship and client exposure.
Are these new grad public relations specialist jobs?
Yes, the openings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior public relations specialist roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or practicum work toward that requirement, or accepts a writing portfolio in place of full-time history. Many employers explicitly list coursework in communications, journalism, or marketing as a qualifying credential for candidates at this level.
Which industries hire the most entry level public relations specialists?
