Quality Assurance Engineer Jobs in Tampa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a quality assurance engineer job in Tampa?
Candidates who land quality assurance engineer roles in Tampa fastest tend to target the city's defense contractors in the Westshore Business District, health tech firms near Tampa General and USF Health, and fintech companies concentrated Downtown. Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks like Selenium or Cypress stands out locally, and familiarity with regulated-industry compliance testing gives applicants a clear edge over generalist candidates.
Which companies hire quality assurance engineers in Tampa?
Companies currently hiring quality assurance engineers in Tampa include Heritage Insurance, PwC, and CMTS, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Tampa's employer mix skews toward defense and government IT contractors, regional healthcare systems, and a growing cluster of fintech and insurance technology firms, all of which maintain dedicated QA teams.
Are there remote quality assurance engineer jobs in Tampa?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: analytical and automation-focused QA work is highly remote-friendly, while hardware, medical device, and lab-based testing roles require on-site presence. About 60% of quality assurance engineer openings tied to Tampa are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the largest share of fully remote postings coming from Tampa's software and fintech employers rather than its defense or healthcare system contractors.
How can I get a quality assurance engineer job in Tampa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tampa is targeting junior QA analyst or software tester roles at the city's mid-size fintech and SaaS companies, which hire entry-level candidates more readily than large defense contractors. Building a portfolio of personal or open-source test projects, earning a foundational certification such as ISTQB Foundation, and connecting with the Tampa Bay Tech community accelerates the process considerably for candidates without prior professional experience.
Which industries hire the most quality assurance engineers in Tampa?
Tampa quality assurance engineer roles concentrate in Insurance, Accounting & Auditing, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Tampa's mix of defense and government IT contracts, a large regional healthcare infrastructure anchored by major hospital systems, and a rapidly expanding fintech corridor Downtown collectively sustain consistent year-round demand for QA professionals across experience levels.
