Quality Assurance Lead Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality assurance lead in Washington?
Most quality assurance lead roles in Washington require a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field combined with several years of hands-on QA experience. Washington does not issue a state-specific QA license, but employers in aerospace and medical devices expect credentials such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Auditor. Candidates who build experience in Boeing's or a medical device supplier's QA programs, then move into a lead role, follow the most common path in this market.
How much do quality assurance leads make in Washington?
Quality assurance leads in Washington earn a median of about $128,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $74,180 for the lowest 10% to over $202,730 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality assurance leads in Washington?
Employers hiring quality assurance leads in Washington right now include Amazon, B.E. Meyers, and Blue Origin, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Washington's concentration of aerospace primes, software giants, and medical device manufacturers means quality assurance lead demand is distributed across multiple high-compliance industries rather than a single sector.
Which Washington cities have the most quality assurance lead jobs?
Seattle, Redmond, and Richland have the most quality assurance lead openings in Washington. Seattle and its Eastside suburbs of Bellevue and Redmond drive the bulk of demand through large technology, aerospace, and life sciences employers headquartered there, while secondary hubs like Everett and Renton add significant aerospace and manufacturing volume through Boeing's production facilities.
Are there remote quality assurance lead jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields, particularly for software and digital product quality assurance roles where testing and oversight work can be performed fully remotely. About 25% of quality assurance lead openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with the remote share concentrated in software QA positions at technology companies. Hardware, aerospace, and medical device QA leads typically require on-site presence for physical inspection and production oversight.
How can I get hired as a quality assurance lead in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a QA analyst or junior QA engineer role at a Washington technology company or aerospace supplier, then building toward a lead position. Large Washington employers such as Boeing and Amazon run structured associate and rotational programs that place candidates in quality and operations functions. Earning an ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate credential or building a portfolio of automation projects in tools like Selenium or JIRA gives candidates a measurable edge when competing for first lead-level roles.
Where can I find and apply to quality assurance lead jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to quality assurance lead jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings across aerospace, technology, medical devices, and manufacturing. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
