Position Summary
Reporting to Site Quality Manager and Project Manager, applies skills and knowledge to determine degree of conformance of materials, equipment and installation of materials and equipment to specifications. Performs inspection of various project activities; generates daily and weekly reports of conditions found during inspection activities. Notifies management of significant problems. Completes documentation to attest to satisfactory completion of inspection or test activities.
Responsibilities
- Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
- Inspect and ensure the quality of work performed during the daily activities of the overall construction on a 12-mile pipeline project. Included but not limited to, excavations, concrete, rebar, PV installation, underground utilities, welding, piping, valves, and a wide variety of other equipment.
- Have a working knowledge of the code(s) of construction being used for the project.
- Demonstrates good organizational, planning and time management skills.
- Conduct daily activities in a highly organized manner to ensure all QC data are properly and accurately recorded.
- Daily monitoring and recording of all work as required by the Quality Inspection Test Plan (QITP).
- Prevents deficiencies while working closely with field operating teams, through pre-construction quality control inspections.
- Detect deficiencies and addresses deficiencies in a timely and effective manner.
- Inspect the work and establish punch lists.
- Ensure daily quality task schedules are met to meet the project schedule.
- Work closely with the Client and field quality staff acting as their field representative ensuring construction understands and follows the QA/QC requirements.
- Interface with field supervision to maintain an open line of communication.
- Interacts cross-functionally with craft personnel and other team members.
- Maintain complete and accurate records during inspections so they can be transferred to permanent hard copies and/or electronic files.
- Capable of determining the calibration status of measuring and test equipment.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Other Duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) plus 3-5 years’ experience in the Construction Trades.
- Must have a current AAMP/NACE CIP Level 1 or 2.
- The Quality Inspector must be a self-starter, be organized and have good interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to use inspection tools (example: Gal-Gauge, Pick Gauge, Hi-Lo gauge, Filler Gauge, and so forth).
- Must be able to read/interpret ISO, P&ID’s and able to Red-Line ISO.
- Read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings and technical procedures.
- Required exposure to civil, electrical, mechanical, pipeline/oil/gas, industrial and welding activities.
- Ability to independently perform work such as Piping system walkdown, structural walkdown, and Civil inspections.
- Write daily reports and document project activities.
- Effectively collect and record field data to ensure activities are conforming to corporate Quality Control procedures. Ensure the effective implementation of the quality control program for assigned project tasks.
- Ability to solve problems individually and in a team setting.

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk the property and laydown yards.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
