Quality Inspector Jobs in Houston, TX

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying products, materials, orders, and assemblies throughout Wilson Company’s distribution and production operations. This is a highly hands-on role that works directly in the warehouse and production shop, inspecting product as it comes in, moves through the operation, and is prepared for shipment.

The position also maintains quality documentation, analyzes quality issues, supports the Quality Management System, and works with branch teams to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Quality Inspection

• Perform hands-on inspections of incoming materials, warehouse inventory, production work, and completed orders.
• Inspect hydraulic hose assemblies, filters, fluid power products, and other products for quality, accuracy, condition, and conformance to specifications.
• Review drawings, work orders, customer specifications, and other requirements to determine inspection criteria.
• Perform visual inspections, measurements, testing, and functional checks using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Verify completed products meet requirements before release or shipment.
• Identify, document, and communicate damaged, incorrect, or non-conforming products.

Quality Systems & Documentation

• Maintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation, and metrics using company systems.
• Support inspection and test plans, checklists, work instructions, and other quality documentation.
• Participate in internal audits and process reviews.
• Document and follow up on non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Analyze quality issues and recurring trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

Process Improvement & Team Support

• Work with Production, Warehouse, Customer Service, Sales, Engineering, and other departments to resolve quality issues.
• Help identify root causes and develop practical solutions to prevent recurring issues.
• Provide feedback and guidance when quality concerns are identified.
• Support quality-related training, procedures, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Communicate quality concerns and recommendations clearly to leadership and affected departments.

Safety

• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Use appropriate PPE and inspection equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working hands-on in warehouse and production environments.
• Experience with quality inspection, manufacturing, distribution, assembly, or similar hands-on work preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work orders.
• Ability to use measurement and inspection tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to accurately document inspection results and work with computer-based quality systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, fluid power, or industrial products preferred.
• Experience with ISO 9001, internal audits, corrective actions, or continuous improvement is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout warehouse and production areas.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull.
• Frequent use of hands for inspection, measurement, testing, and handling product.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier materials with assistance.
• Ability to work around moving equipment and in varying warehouse and production environments.

Salary Range: $22/hr - $26/hr, or approximately $45,750.00 to $54,000.00 annually

**Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and acceptable motor vehicle record, as well as possession of a valid driver’s license prior to start date.
