Radiology Technologist Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a radiology technologist in Maryland?
You must obtain a license from the Maryland Board of Physicians before practicing as a radiology technologist in Maryland. The path starts with completing an accredited radiologic technology program, either an associate or bachelor's degree, followed by passing the ARRT national certification exam. Once certified, you apply to the Maryland Board of Physicians for your state license. Reciprocity is available for technologists already licensed in another state who hold current ARRT credentials.
How much do radiology technologists make in Maryland?
Radiology technologists in Maryland earn a median of about $85,890 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,140 for the lowest 10% to over $106,260 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire radiology technologists in Maryland?
Companies currently hiring radiology technologists in Maryland include MedStar Health, RadNet, and Johns Hopkins Health System, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maryland's concentration of large academic health systems and multi-hospital networks means radiology technologist openings appear regularly across inpatient, outpatient, and specialized imaging settings throughout the state.
Which Maryland cities have the most radiology technologist jobs?
Baltimore, Rockville, and Columbia lead Maryland for radiology technologist openings. Baltimore anchors the market through its dense cluster of academic medical centers and regional hospitals, while Bethesda and Silver Spring draw significant volume from the large health systems and federal medical facilities serving the D.C. corridor, making the suburbs nearly as active as the city itself.
Are there remote radiology technologist jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they're rare. Radiology technologist work is fundamentally hands-on, requiring direct patient contact and operation of imaging equipment on site. About 0% of radiology technologist openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, which is low relative to most fields. The portion of work that can be done remotely is generally limited to teleradiology image review roles that require advanced credentials beyond entry-level.
How can I get hired as a radiology technologist in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is applying directly to new-graduate or limited-experience positions at Maryland's large hospital systems, which regularly onboard recent ARRT exam passers. Johns Hopkins Medicine, University of Maryland Medical System, and MedStar Health each post entry-level radiographer roles open to new grads holding a Maryland Board of Physicians license. Lateral moves from radiologic technology aide, imaging assistant, or patient care technician roles within those systems also open doors. Completing a clinical rotation at a Maryland facility and holding your state license before applying gives you a clear edge over candidates still awaiting credentials.
Where can I find and apply to radiology technologist jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to radiology technologist jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to whichever positions fit your situation.
