ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Director of Recreation supports the Recreation Department by overseeing daily operations, guest experience, and associate development across all recreation venues. This role partners closely with the Director of Recreation to maintain departmental standards, ensure safety and cleanliness, conduct service audits, and manage recreation systems, programs, and special events. Responsibilities include driving revenue through innovative programming and rentals, coordinating with other resort departments, and providing leadership that reinforces Omni’s culture through training, recognition, and engagement. The position requires strong organizational and leadership skills, the ability to support long range planning for fitness, watersports, camps, nature education, and family activities, and the flexibility to provide operational coverage across indoor and outdoor venues while meeting company driving requirements.
Essential Functions
- Oversee and support all aspects of the Recreation Department.
- Direct focus on all fitness and tennis associates, facilities and events.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Recreation Managers and Associates in their daily responsibilities to enhance service levels and guest satisfaction.
- Promote and support all Recreation programs, activities, and services throughout the resort.
- Maintain direct responsibility for the cleanliness, presentation, and safety of all operations and guest experiences.
- Coordinate and support holiday marketing initiatives and event production in partnership with other departments.
- Serve as a liaison between Recreation and all resort outlets, supporting ATGT programs, holiday events, ASC-produced events, and fostering strong internal and external relationships.
- Develop and maintain consistent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Moments of Service (MOS) standards for all Recreation positions.
- Become proficient in the Point-of-Sale (POS) system and serve as the departmental administrator.
- Assist with routine cleaning and organization of recreation facilities and equipment, including inventory management.
- Provide operational support across all Recreation areas during Manager scheduled days off and periods of business need.
- Communicate professionally and demonstrate exceptional service standards to all Omni Associates and guests.
- Ensure all Recreation agreements, waivers, and required documentation are completed accurately and timely.
- Utilize sound business acumen to drive revenue growth and develop new programming, activities, and rental opportunities.
- Develop associates through coaching, recognition, and engagement while promoting a positive work environment aligned with Omni's culture and values.
Associate Development and Culture
- Organize and facilitate ATGT meetings.
- Recognize outstanding associates through OSC awards and recognition programs.
- Promote and maintain balance within the Trilogy framework.
- Utilize the Power of One principles as a training and development tool.
- Establish and uphold performance standards through Moments of Service.
- Reinforce Omni culture and service expectations through the Mirror Image philosophy.
Strategic Planning and Program Development
- Assist in developing long-range plans and initiatives for:
- Holiday Programs and Large-Scale Events (500+ attendees)
- Social Activities and Family Activities
- Camp Programs and Teen Programs
- Fitness Programming and Tennis Retail
- Nature and Environmental Education
- Pool and Beach Reservation Processes
- Group and Corporate Activities
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead by example and model Omni values through the Mirror Image philosophy.
- Attend departmental and resort meetings, communicating relevant information to Managers and Associates.
- Provide Recreation Managers with timely updates regarding departmental operations, initiatives, and performance.
- Support departmental goals, budgets, and operational objectives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record that meets company standards.
- Must be eligible to operate company vehicles.
