The incumbent ensures compliance with established safety standards, practices, and procedures and works collaboratively with departmental officials to assess operational requirements and ensure the timely availability of equipment, supplies, and materials.
The incumbent regularly analyzes warehouse operations, inventory practices, and resource utilization and develops strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, service delivery, and overall operational effectiveness. The position requires a high degree of independent judgment and decision-making in managing day-to-day warehousing activities, resolving operational issues, allocating resources, and maintaining uninterrupted availability of essential materials to support departmental operations.
The position provides direct and indirect supervision, through subordinate supervisors, to supervisory, technical, clerical, and other warehouse personnel. The incumbent is responsible for establishing performance expectations, fostering accountability, coordinating work activities, and ensuring that staff and operations adhere to applicable policies, procedures, safety requirements, and service standards.
General direction is provided by an administrative superior, who evaluates performance and overall operational effectiveness through conferences, reports, management reviews, and other established accountability measures.
This is a leadership position requiring strong organizational, analytical, supervisory, administrative, and materials-management expertise. The incumbent is accountable for ensuring the effective, efficient, and responsive operation of departmental warehousing and stores activities, while optimizing resources and supporting the continuity of essential departmental services.
