Job Summary

Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays), ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health.
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
• Follow infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing infection control measures diligently.

Requirements

• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
• Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
• Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and EHR management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy, and medical coding practices.
• Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while adhering to radiation safety standards.
• Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration; experience in client communication is highly valued.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and equipment sterilization procedures.
