Certified Medical Assistant Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified medical assistant in Missouri?
Missouri does not require a state-issued license for medical assistants, but most employers require a nationally recognized credential such as the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential from American Medical Technologists. To earn either, you complete an accredited medical assistant program at a community college or vocational school in Missouri, then pass the corresponding national exam. Many Missouri employers treat the CMA or RMA as a minimum hiring requirement.
Which companies hire certified medical assistants in Missouri?
Missouri certified medical assistant roles are posted by SSM Health, CareLinx, and CoxHealth and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Missouri's large integrated health systems and multi-specialty outpatient networks generate the most consistent volume of openings across the state.
Which Missouri cities have the most certified medical assistant jobs?
St. Louis, Fenton, and Bridgeton have the most certified medical assistant openings in Missouri. Kansas City and St. Louis lead because of their dense concentration of major health systems, hospital campuses, and affiliated outpatient clinics, while Springfield supports steady demand through the Mercy and CoxHealth networks anchoring the southwest region.
Are there remote certified medical assistant jobs in Missouri?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of certified medical assistant openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the role's hands-on clinical nature. The small share of remote positions tends to involve prior authorization review, patient phone triage, or care coordination tasks that don't require an in-person clinical setting.
How can I get hired as a certified medical assistant in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing an accredited medical assistant program at a Missouri community college such as St. Louis Community College or Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, which connects graduates directly to clinical externship sites that frequently convert to hires. Large Missouri systems including BJC HealthCare and Mercy Health offer new-graduate onboarding pipelines and occasionally post entry-level medical assistant associate roles. Candidates coming from adjacent positions such as patient service representative, phlebotomist, or medical receptionist have a strong foundation, and holding a CMA or RMA credential before applying gives a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to certified medical assistant jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to certified medical assistant jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings updated in real time. Search the available roles, find one that fits your experience and preferred location, and apply directly without needing to create a profile or sign up.
