Reimbursement Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a reimbursement manager in Illinois?
A bachelor's degree in health information management, finance, or accounting is the standard starting point for Illinois employers. Most hiring managers also look for several years of hands-on billing or revenue cycle experience before promoting someone into a manager role. Professional credentials such as the Certified Revenue Cycle Professional or Certified Professional Coder designation, though not state-licensed requirements in Illinois, consistently strengthen a candidate's profile with major health systems and insurance organizations across the state.
How much do reimbursement managers make in Illinois?
Reimbursement managers in Illinois earn a median of about $165,880 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $100,070 for the lowest 10% to over $313,110 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire reimbursement managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring reimbursement managers in Illinois right now include VALERIS, サイネオス・ヘルス, and Syneos Health Commercial Solutions, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Illinois's large integrated health systems, regional managed care organizations, and corporate insurance headquarters in the Chicago metro generate the steadiest volume of openings for this role throughout the year.
Which Illinois cities have the most reimbursement manager jobs?
Chicago, Naperville, and Springfield have the most reimbursement manager openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates because it hosts major health system headquarters, large insurance carriers, and corporate shared-services centers, while Naperville and Peoria draw openings from regional hospital networks and specialty practices that concentrate outside the core city.
Are there remote reimbursement manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most healthcare roles, since reimbursement management is primarily an analytical and administrative function that does not require physical patient care. About 100% of reimbursement manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting how widely billing and payer contract work can be performed off-site. The tasks most commonly approved for remote work are payer correspondence, cost reporting, and denial management.
How can I get hired as a reimbursement manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a billing specialist, accounts receivable coordinator, or insurance follow-up representative at a Chicago-area health system or medical group, then building toward a supervisory role. Large Illinois employers like Advocate Health Care and OSF HealthCare regularly post entry-level revenue cycle positions that feed into management pipelines. Earning a Certified Professional Coder or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative credential early gives candidates a concrete credential that offsets limited tenure and signals seriousness to Illinois hiring teams.
Where can I find and apply to reimbursement manager jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to reimbursement manager jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings for roles that match your experience and specialty area, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
