ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Relationship Manager or Senior Relationship Manager is a key leader within Texas Capital’s Corporate Banking team, responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of high-value corporate and upper middle-market clients within the Insurance industry. The role delivers customized financial solutions, builds deep client relationships, and mentors junior team members to support the group’s overall success. This position will report directly to the Head of Insurance Corporate Banking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Relationship Management: Manage a portfolio of corporate and upper middle-market clients, serving as the primary contact for C-suite executives and decision-makers.
- Tailored Solutions: Develop customized financial solutions based on client needs, leveraging industry knowledge and market insights.
- Business Development: Drive growth by leveraging a strong industry network and proactive calling efforts to identify new prospect opportunities and deepen relationships within the existing client base.
- Product Collaboration: Partner with internal teams to identify additional customer needs and relationship expansion opportunities across treasury management, lending, private wealth, institutional asset management, and investment banking services.
- Risk and Credit Oversight: Work closely with junior bankers and credit teams to structure, underwrite, and monitor deals, ensuring strong credit quality and compliance.
- Industry Expertise: Serve as an industry subject matter expert by staying abreast of industry trends and market conditions that could impact assigned relationships and borrowers.
- Mentorship: Mentor Analysts and Associates, providing guidance on technical skills, client management, and professional growth.
- Client Engagement: Conduct regular reviews and maintain high levels of client engagement to deliver exceptional experiences.
- Deal Execution: Lead client pitches, presentations, and negotiations to secure new business and expand relationships.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, risk frameworks, and internal policies.
- Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture within the Corporate Banking team, contributing to the group’s overall success.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel for client meetings, conferences and presentations, and other networking events.
- Projects: Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 10+ years in corporate/commercial banking or a similar role with a proven track record of relationship management and profitable portfolio growth.
- Leadership: Direct experience mentoring junior team members and fostering a high-performing, inclusive environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and defend positions to internal and external constituencies.
- Self-Starter: Highly motivated individual contributor with the ability to function effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, complex environment, while meeting internal and external timelines.
- Critical Thinking: Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and problem-solve through bespoke creative ideas.
- Skills: Strong expertise in corporate finance, accounting, credit analysis, and strategic advisory.
- Training: Formal Credit Training (Commercial Credit Certification or equivalent from another bank) or commensurate experience in credit analysis and portfolio management.
- Licensing: FINRA Series 79, 63 and Securities Industry Essentials licenses required or must obtain within 180 days of hire.
- Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field. Graduate degree preferred.
