The Special Projects Manager, Office of the CEO reports to the Chief of Staff and drives CEO-priority projects that are too important to be left to normal staff processes but not yet mature enough to belong cleanly to one business unit.
The role is especially valuable across Voyager's focus areas: defense and space, new partnerships, government strategy, technology roadmaps, capital markets, M&A, and customer positioning. The ideal candidate is analytical, entrepreneurial, and comfortable operating in ambiguity — capable of building a clear decision memo or a compelling strategic deck, and equally capable of getting a stalled initiative moving. It is focused on project execution and opportunity development rather than executive operations.
Essential Functions
- Lead and manage high-priority strategic initiatives directly for the Chief of Staff. Examples include:
Business Growth & Opportunity Development
Identify, shape, and build the case for new business opportunities:
- Proactively scan the market for growth opportunities aligned with Voyager's defense and space strategy
- Qualify and prioritize leads across new programs, partnerships, and adjacent markets
- Build business cases and financial models to support CEO and board-level investment decisions
- Coordinate across finance, strategy, business development, legal, communications, and operations to advance opportunities
- Track and synthesize market signals, competitive dynamics, and customer intelligence relevant to Voyager's growth agenda
Financial Analysis & Decision Support
Serve as an analytical engine for the CEO's office:
- Build and maintain financial models for strategic initiatives, market sizing, and business cases
- Prepare investment memos, scenario analyses, and return frameworks for CEO and board review
- Synthesize complex financial, operational, and market data into crisp executive-level recommendations
- Support capital markets activities, including preparation of materials for investors and financing discussions
- Track financial performance of special projects and surface early indicators of risk or opportunity
Enterprise Problem Solving
- Jump into stalled initiatives, clarify ownership, and build execution plans
- Translate CEO priorities into cross-functional action while building trust and preserving working relationships across the organization
- Help teams get unstuck — diagnose root cause and propose a clear path forward
- Represent the Office of the CEO in cross-functional forums with credibility and discretion

Tips for Your Remote Chief Executive Officer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote chief executive officer openings from across the U.S. in one place. Search roles by function and apply directly to the ones that match your leadership background before competitive windows close.
Prove async leadership in your materials
Remote boards evaluate how a chief executive officer will run distributed teams without in-person oversight. Your resume and cover letter should name specific tools you have used for async communication, how you have structured remote reporting cadences, and the outcomes those practices produced.
Prepare for distributed-team interview formats
Remote chief executive officer interviews frequently involve multiple asynchronous rounds, video calls with board members in different time zones, and written case responses. Practice presenting your operating philosophy in writing as clearly as you would in person, since remote boards weight written clarity heavily at this level.
Build visibility in remote-first leadership networks
Remote chief executive officer searches often run through distributed founder and board communities before they appear publicly. Engaging in remote-first leadership forums, contributing to async discussions on organizational strategy, and connecting with distributed-company advisors puts your name in circulation before a role is posted.
Frame your onboarding plan before you are asked
Remote-first organizations hiring a chief executive officer want to see that you have thought through distributed onboarding. Arriving at late-stage interviews with a draft 90-day plan that addresses remote team integration, async communication norms, and early stakeholder alignment signals operational readiness that remote boards find hard to ignore.
Remote Chief Executive Officer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote chief executive officer job?
Remote chief executive officer roles go to candidates who can demonstrate they lead effectively without physical proximity. Remote-first boards and distributed organizations screen for strong written communication, comfort with asynchronous decision-making, and a history of building accountability into distributed teams. Candidates who can point to specific outcomes from remote or hybrid leadership situations, and who articulate a clear operating cadence for distributed teams, stand out most.
Which companies hire remote chief executive officers?
Employers currently hiring remote chief executive officers include FutureSight, ATAX - 19th Ave, and zero, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote chief executive officer roles are most common at remote-first technology companies, distributed SaaS businesses, and nonprofits with nationally dispersed teams and boards.
Can you get a remote chief executive officer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote chief executive officer roles with no prior executive experience are rare and demand early self-direction that many candidates underestimate. Entry paths include leading a remote startup, running a distributed nonprofit, or stepping into a fractional chief executive officer role for an early-stage company. Demonstrating measurable outcomes from any distributed leadership role, even at a small scale, opens doors when formal credentials are thin.
Do you need a degree for remote chief executive officer jobs?
Not always. Remote employers hiring chief executive officers weigh demonstrated leadership results, board relationships, and the ability to drive strategy across distributed teams far more heavily than academic credentials. A record of scaling revenue, managing remote organizations, or turning around distributed operations routinely outweighs a missing or unrelated degree for this role.
Which industries hire the most remote chief executive officers?
The sectors hiring the most remote chief executive officers are Education, Science & Research, and Agriculture & Farming, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors rely heavily on distributed teams and outcomes-based leadership, which makes fully remote chief executive officer arrangements a natural fit for their operating models.
