Tips for Your Remote Field Sales Engineer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote field sales engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your background and apply directly without sifting through postings that require on-site presence.
Build a demo reel for remote interviews
Record a short product walkthrough or discovery call simulation and keep it ready to share. Remote employers hiring field sales engineers want evidence you can run compelling demos over video before they invite you to interview.
Highlight async communication skills explicitly
Remote field sales engineer roles rely on written follow-ups, Slack updates, and CRM documentation as much as live calls. Call out tools you use, such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Gong, and cite examples of deals you moved forward without in-person contact.
Target companies with distributed sales teams
Remote-first software vendors, IoT companies, and medical device firms with no regional office structure are the most consistent sources of remote field sales engineer openings. Prioritize companies whose job posts mention distributed teams or multi-state territories.
Remote Field Sales Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote field sales engineer job?
Target companies with distributed sales teams, typically remote-first software vendors, industrial tech firms, and medical device companies that cover large territories without regional offices. Remote employers screen heavily for self-direction, clear written communication, and the ability to run product demos and discovery calls over video without in-person support. Candidates who can show a history of managing a pipeline independently and closing deals asynchronously stand out from the field.
Which companies hire remote field sales engineers?
Employers currently hiring remote field sales engineers include ITW, RFMW, and X-FAB, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote field sales engineer roles tend to concentrate at remote-first software companies, distributed hardware and IoT vendors, and medical device firms that rely on digitally managed regional territories rather than local office presence.
Can you get a remote field sales engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level field sales engineer roles are harder to land because employers expect you to work independently from day one without in-office mentorship. Remote-first SaaS companies and early-stage hardware startups are the most likely to hire entry-level candidates. Showing completed technical coursework, a home lab demo, or a self-taught product walkthrough recorded on video can substitute for formal experience and signals you can function remotely.
Do you need a degree for remote field sales engineer jobs?
Not always, though many postings list a bachelor's in engineering, computer science, or a related field as preferred. Remote employers weigh demonstrated technical fluency, verifiable sales results, and the ability to communicate complex solutions clearly over video just as heavily as credentials. Candidates without a degree who can show a portfolio of closed deals, strong product knowledge, and a history of self-directed work are competitive for many remote openings.
